Six Steps to Christian Growth
SIX STEPS TO CHRISTIAN GROWTH
1. Go to a Bible-believing church.
Hebrews 10:25 – Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another, and so much the more as ye see the day approaching.
2. Read your Bible daily:
1 Peter 2:2 – As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
Acts 17:11 – These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Start in the New Testament with the book of John.
3. Obey Christ and be baptized:
Matthew 28:19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:41 – Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day they were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 8:36, 37 – And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Baptism does not make a person a Christian but it is an outward showing of an inward decision.
4. Witness to others of Christ:
Acts 1:8 – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
5. Thank God daily in prayer:
Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Matthew 7:7 – Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
6. Honor God with the tithe:
Malachi 3:10 – Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
1 Corinthians 6:2 – Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
